Griff/SMC Wins Silver Leaf Award from Colorado Healthcare Communicators
Award-Winning Community Relations Campaign Promoted Porter Adventist Hospitals Minimally Invasive Surgery for Women
BOULDER, Colo. (November 12, 2003) Griff/SMC, the Rocky
Mountain regions leading independent medical marketing communications
firm, was recently honored with a Silver Leaf Award at the 2003 Colorado
Healthcare Communicator's (CHC) annual awards event for an integrated
communications campaign for Porter Adventist Hospital. The community relations
campaign promoted the benefits of minimally invasive surgery for women.
The campaigns goal was to educate women about the advances in minimally
invasive (laparoscopic) surgery technology, which can be performed on
an out-patient basis rather than traditional surgery, which often requires
lengthy hospital stays. In addition, minimally invasive procedures are
less traumatic, resulting in less pain and expense, and a faster recovery
time.
The Porter Adventist Hospital Minimally Invasive Surgery for Women Open
House campaign consisted of ads in local newspapers several weeks prior
to the event. The ad concept featured a small bandage to visually convey
the message that todays laparoscopic procedures are less traumatic
than traditional surgery. The integrated campaign also included a radio
spot, personal letters to area women's organizations, door drops to consumers
in the Porter Adventist Hospital service area and signage around the hospital.
The campaigns results exceeded the goal established by the hospital.
The prestigious CHC Gold Leaf Award honors the outstanding accomplishments
of communication and marketing professionals in the healthcare arena.
There is no other member-organization in Colorado that exclusively honors
local professionals from the healthcare marketing and communication sector.
